Ceramic Bowl MT24 1

What happens when we translate the collage technique I use in my paper collages into ceramics? This question marked the beginning of my collaboration with Bernese ceramicist Laurin Schaub. Our experiments led us to develop a process in which colored porcelain is rolled out, torn apart, reassembled, and rolled again. What makes this technique special is that the patterns do not emerge, as usual, from dipping or applying glaze, but are instead the result of the making process itself. The material becomes the pattern – the pattern becomes the material. The first edition of the bowls was presented in September at NOV Gallery as part of the Parcours Céramique Carougeois 2024.
